NASA Cancels First All-Female Spacewalk Due To “Spacesuit Availability” Issues

26 March 2019
The Hill reports that “NASA said Monday that it has canceled what would have been its first all-female spacewalk, citing ‘spacesuit availability’ issues.” The spacewalk would have seen NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Christina Koch both suit up, and “according to NASA, the astronauts learned that they wear the same size spacesuit, but only one of those sizes will be available.” A NASA statement said, “Because only one medium-size torso can be made ready by Friday, March 29, Koch will wear it.” (Image: Retired NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, who holds the U.S. record for most cumulative time in space, at the ISS.
