Magnus Speaks At International Astronautical Congress

27 September 2017
NewsMaker reports that AIAA Executive Director Dr. Sandy Magnus spoke at a panel dedicated to the “First Woman on the Moon” at the International Astronautical Congress in Adelaide, Australia. Magnus said that gender diversity strengthens the industry, and that given each “person’s reality is slightly different,” working with “multiple networks” of people from different personality types and genders “helps you get out of the box – it gives you a new perspective.” Magnus added, “Women are smart enough and strong enough to win selection on their own merits,” and past suggestions at NASA of an all-female space shuttle flight were rejected by the “entire astronaut corps...the women most of all,” as a “gimmick idea.” (Image Credit: AIAA)
